In Loving Memory of Rovena McMillion
January 19, 1946 to May 26, 2026
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Rovena McMillion, a devoted mother,
grandmother, sister, faithful servant of Jehovah, and cherished friend whose kindness, strength, and
unwavering faith touched countless lives.
Rovena was born on January 19, 1946, in Sumter, South Carolina, to Henry Douglas and Mary Douglas. She
spent her early years in South Carolina, where she attended school and developed the strong values of faith,
perseverance, and family that would guide her throughout her life. As a young woman, she ventured to New
Jersey to pursue her first employment opportunity, demonstrating the courage and determination that would
become hallmarks of her character.
She met John McMillion in Sumter, South Carolina, whom she later wed. Their marriage marked the beginning
of a beautiful journey that led them to Manhattan, New York, where they began their family. Together, they
welcomed and raised their five beloved children, eventually making their home in the Bronx, New York.
Rovena devoted herself to creating a home filled with love, guidance, laughter, and enduring family bonds that
would remain strong for generations.
One of the most meaningful chapters of Rovena’s life began when she was introduced to Jehovah through her
son, John. She began studying the Bible with Delores Wilson, and through those studies, she came to know and
love Jehovah deeply. Rovena dedicated her life to Jehovah and remained a faithful servant for more than 45
years. Her faith was not simply something she professed; it was something she lived every day. She found great
joy in sharing the Bible’s message and speaking with others about Jehovah’s promises and the hope of
everlasting life. She loved participating in the ministry and encouraging others with the comfort and hope
found in God’s Word. Her steadfast faith remained strong until her final days.
To know Rovena was to know warmth, kindness, and generosity. She treasured time spent with her family and
friends and found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by those she loved. Whether enjoying family
vacations, sharing stories and laughter around the table, or simply spending quiet moments together, she
created memories that will be cherished forever. She especially enjoyed watching her favorite television show,
Family Feud, a pastime that often brought smiles and laughter to those around her.
Rovena was preceded in death by her father, Henry Douglas; her mother, Mary Douglas; her sister, Bertha Mae
Douglas; her sister, Eartha Lee Hudson; and her brother, Henry Douglas Jr., affectionately known as “Bubba.”
Rovena is survived by her sister, Ruthie Lee, Sumter, SC.
Rovena’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her five children: John McMillion and his wife, Barbara
McMillion, of Tomball, TX; Brenda Greaves of Stroudsburg, PA; Tony McMillion and Lenora Trisvan, of
Harrisburg, NC; Dwain McMillion and his wife, Beverly McMillion, of Englewood, NJ; and Mary Gilmore and
her husband, Aliek Gilmore, of Monroe, NY.
She was also the proud and loving grandmother of Lavette McMillion, Anthony Greaves Jr., Brehona
McMillion, Alyssa McMillion, Mariah Gilmore, Dwain McMillion, Aljime Gilmore, Naomi McMillion, Nadia
McMillion, and Isabelle McMillion. Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable pride and joy, and she
treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.
Rovena’s life was a beautiful testimony of faith, devotion, resilience, and unconditional love. Though her family
deeply mourns her passing, they are comforted by the many precious memories she leaves behind and by the
Bible-based hope she cherished and shared throughout her life. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, faithful example,
and enduring love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
“The righteous one will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.” — Psalm 37:29
Until the day when Jehovah’s promise is fulfilled and loved ones are reunited, Rovena’s memory will continue
to be a source of comfort, inspiration, and strength. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly
remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
