Eartha Hudson

Eartha Lee Hudson “Eartha Lee”, daughter of the late Henry Douglas and Mary Douglas was born on February 6, 1937, in Sumter, South Carolina.  She attended the public schools of Win Junior High School and Lincoln High School in Sumter, South Carolina.

In the late 1950s, she decided to relocate to New York City, for better job opportunities.  She planted her roots in Harlem, New York, and lived there for the next 60 years.  In 2016,  her declining health led her to the Bronx Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, where she resided until her death, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 6:30 pm.

Eartha Lee loved New York  –  from the bright lights to the busy streets – she loved New York.

Eartha Lee warmed the hearts of all who crossed paths with her.  She had the best conversational skills of anyone on this earth.  She had a huge smile and such a vibrant personality.  If she was needed, she was there.  She will be sorely missed.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her sisters:  Rovena McMillion of Bronx, New York  and Ruthie Lee of Sumter, South Carolina, her brother:  Henry Douglas, Jr. of Sumter, South Carolina, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We will say our final goodbye to Eartha Lee on Wednesday, July 24, 2024,at 12:00 Noon at Manhattan Online Cremation, (Crestwood Funeral Home) located at 445 West 43rd Street, New York, NY  10036.
